Your PT Appointments
If you have not filled out intake paperwork downloaded from our website, please arrive 20 minutes early. If your paperwork is already complete, arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment time so that we can put your chart in order upon your arrival. Initial evaluations generally last from 60 to 90 minutes. All initial evaluations will be sent to the doctor who referred you for physical therapy.
What to Bring
Bring your completed paperwork, insurance cards, copy of your medication list and a calendar for future follow-up treatment visits after your initial evaluation.
What to Wear
We ask that you wear comfortable, loose-fitted clothing for therapists to access the location of your pain. Exercise clothing such as yoga pants, shorts, elastic waistbands are easiest for stretches and working on the machines. If you are coming from work, bring clothing you can change into when you arrive.
The Physical Therapist (PT) will begin with a conversation about your current problem, how it occurred and what caused the pain. Many questions will help to analyze the problem including history, habits and hobbies. The PT will discuss the therapy program that will be performed for each visit as well as a plan of care for frequency and duration for follow-up treatments depending upon your individual condition. The therapist may include exercises to be completed at home with a hand-out or video to achieve your best results within the therapy treatment visits.
Once the PT has recommended your frequency and duration of care, each subsequent treatment visit will last approximately 60 minutes. Upon your 10th visit, the therapist will perform new measurements to measure progress from the initial evaluation date which will be sent to your doctor. Each person reacts differently so not all results of treatment are the same. At the 10th to the 12th visit, the PT will suggest whether continued treatment visits are necessary to achieve the desired results.
